Over 20 cats were found abandoned in sealed boxes at the Humane Society of Greater Niagara last weekend.
In a post on Facebook the Humane Society says two individuals abandoned 14 cats on Friday and then left four more cats the next day.
Around the same time a local shelter found a mother cat and five kittens left outside its doors.
The Humane Society says the animals were scared and confused, but thankfully staff were able to find them quickly and they are now safe.

“Know that we are here to help, and there are always better options than leaving animals behind,” read a statement from the Humane Society.
“Intakes like this put a significant strain on our already full shelter, but we remain hopeful. Time and time again, our community has shown up when animals need it most,” it added.
Anyone interested in donating, fostering or adopting is asked to contact the Humane Society of Greater Niagara at 905 682 0767.
