Late-evening house fire in Thorold sends one person to hospital

The Niagara fire department is investigating a late-evening house fire in Thorold that sent one person to hospital.

The blaze broke out just before 11 p.m. on Alexandra Drive near Highway 406 and Merritt Road.

A freelancer tells CHCH that fire crews arrived to find flames and heavy smoke coming from the home and were able to control the blaze quickly.

One person was brought to hospital with unknown injuries.

Fire officials have yet to release details on the cause of the fire and damage estimates are under investigation.
