Over 14,000 charges laid in OPP Canada Day week campaign

Canada Day week was a deadly one on OPP-patrolled roads and waterways.

There were seven deaths across the province.

Five people were killed in vehicle crashes. Two were killed in boating accidents.

Provincial officers laid over 14,000 charges throughout the week.

Of those, 9,419 were for speeding.

There were 382 charges laid for stunt driving/racing charges for drivers going 50km/h or more above the speed limit.

There were 234 impaired driving charges and 196 charges for distracted driving.
