Oscar nominees announced

The 91st Annual Academy Awards are set to take place in late April, after a tough year for cinema and movies in general due to the COIVD-19 pandemic.

Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her musician-actor husband, Nick Jonas announced the nominees for the 91st annual Academy Awards Monday morning.

The awards will be taking place on Sunday, Apr. 25 at 8 p.m. and will be televised live and, according to reports, in person.

The OSCARS will be broadcast live from multiple locations to help practice social distance protocols.

The ceremony will be held in both its usual home in the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and Los Angeles’ railway hub.

This year marks the first time two women were nominated for Best Director in the same year. Chloé Zhao (“Nomadland”) and Emerald Fennell (“Promising Young Woman”) will go up against Thomas Vinterberg (“Another Round”), David Fincher (“Mank”) and Lee Isaac Chung (“Minari”).
