The funeral for fallen Ontario Provincial Police Const. Tarun Bali is being held Thursday in Mississauga.
Bali was fatally struck by a vehicle in the northern Ontario town of Hearst as police tried to stop a man who had escaped from a hospital.
Police have charged an 18-year-old with first-degree murder in the case.
Bali’s funeral service is not open to the general public. But the OPP says people can observe the funeral procession on the way to the Mississauga Sports and Entertainment Centre.
The service is also expected to be livestreamed on the OPP’s YouTube page.
Two officers have now lost their lives on the job in the province this month. Alongside Bali, Const. Marc Pinizzotto, a Toronto police veteran, was shot and killed last week during a raid linked to multiple investigations, notably a shooting at the U.S. Consulate in March.
