Ontario Tories want unions to bid on contracts

PC MPP Doug Holyday has introduced a bill that would have unions compete for public sector contracts. Premier Kathleen Wynne’s dismissing the bill, calling it “magical thinking.”
“He couldn’t identify whether he thought contracting out teachers was a good idea or contracting out the police, he didn’t have an answer to that. Like the ‘Million Jobs Plan’ that the leader of the third party talked about, it is magical thinking Mr Speaker.”
“We don’t engage in magical thinking. We have a plan and that plan is working.”
Opposition leader Tim Hudak responded with amusement.
“You know, Premier, when it comes to our deep indebtedness and creating jobs, I’d wish you’d engage in any kind of thinking whatsoever. We need another plan.”
Hudak says the Financial Accountability Act would exclude contracts for police officers and teachers.
