Ontario reports 994 COVID-19 cases and 10 deaths

Ontario reported 994 cases of COVID-19 and 10 deaths on Thursday, as the province says it will extend the interval between vaccine doses.

The province says it administered 30,409 vaccine doses since yesterday’s report. In total, 784,828 doses have been administered.

There are 268,118 people who have received both required doses and are fully vaccinated.

The daily cases come as the province completed 65,643 tests. The reported positivity rate, which takes into account the date tests were administered, is 2.1 per cent.

Another 1,072 cases have been marked as resolved.

• 1,367 resolved cases
• 29 active cases
• 39 deaths
• 6,474 vaccine doses given; 1,580 people fully vaccinated

Six Nations

• 373 total cases
• 251 resolved cases
• 119 active cases
• 3 deaths

There are 649 patients in hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 281 are in intensive care and 183 of them are on ventilators.

The number of cases of the B.1.1.7 lineage of the virus, first reported in the U.K., jumped from 552 to 644 cases.

There are now 31 cases of the B.1.351 strain first reported in South Africa.

The number of cases of the P.1 strain, first reported in Brazil, remains steady at three.
