Ontario reports 574 COVID-19 cases, as hospitalizations drop to under 500

Ontario reported 574 cases of COVID-19 and four deaths on Friday, as step one of reopening begins.

For the third day in a row, the reported positivity rate is two per cent. The province completed 28,949 tests in the last day.

A record 199,951 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday. Of those, nearly 66,000 were first doses.


There are 1,533,742 people in the province who have received both required vaccine doses.

There are 489 people in hospital with COVID-19 across Ontario. 440 patients are in intensive care units due to the virus, with 292 of them on ventilators.

Another 850 cases have been marked as resolved.
