Ontario reports 256 COVID-19 cases, two deaths as over 246K vaccine doses administered

Ontario reported 256 cases of COVID-19 and two deaths on Friday as the province set yet another daily vaccination record.

The reported positivity rate is 1.3 per cent, with the province completing 26,561 tests in the last day.

  • 21,207 total cases — up 19 from Thursday
  • 20,206 resolved cases
  • 136 active cases
  • 34 in hospital
  • 399 deaths

Halton

  • 17,945 total cases — up seven from Thursday
  • 17,669 resolved cases
  • 47 active cases
  • 5 in hospital
  • 229 deaths

Niagara

  • 16,171 total cases — up ten from Thursday
  • 15,577 resolved cases
  • 180 active cases
  • 414 deaths  — up one from Thursday
  • 10 in hospital

Brant

  • 3,394 total cases  — up two from Thursday
  • 3,358 resolved cases
  • 16 active cases
  • 20 deaths
  • 6 in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 2,702 total cases — up two from Thursday
  • 2,631 resolved cases
  • 18 active cases
  • 47 deaths

There were 246,393 vaccine doses administered on Thursday and over 218,000 of them were second doses. There are 3.7 million people in the province have received both required vaccine doses.

Ontario has administered 13.5 million vaccine doses to date.

There are 275 people in hospital with COVID-19 across the province. There are 284 patients in ICU with COVID-related illness with 202 of them on ventilators.

The death toll is now 9,101 people.

Another 293 cases have been marked as resolved.
