Ontario reports 170 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death

Ontario is reporting 170 new cases of COVID-19, marking the lowest single-day tally since Sept. 10, 2020.

One virus-related death was also confirmed in the province.

Health Minister Christine Elliot says there are 34 new cases in the Region of Waterloo, 27 in Toronto, 18 in Grey Bruce, and 13 in the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit region.

The province says 228 people are in intensive care because of the virus and 157 are on a ventilator.

Elliot also says 144,795 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine were given on Sunday for a total of more than 15.7 million administered so far.
