Ontario reports 1,670 COVID-19 cases, 45 deaths

Ontario reported 1,670 cases of COVID-19 and 45 deaths on Friday but the province says there are once again data issues with Toronto Public Health.

The Ministry of Health says Toronto is reporting 125 additional cases that were not previously reported, resulting in an overestimation of daily case numbers.

This comes as the province completed 62,710 tests and puts the reported positivity rate at 2.5 per cent.

Another 2,233 cases have been marked as resolved.

Hamilton

  • 9,407 total cases — up 46 from Thursday
  • 8,522 resolved cases
  • 488 active cases
  • 263 deaths — up two from Thursday

Halton

  • 8,674 total cases — up 66 from Thursday
  • 8,109 resolved cases
  • 394 active cases
  • 171 deaths — up three from Thursday

Niagara

  • 8,123 total cases — up 61 from Thursday
  • 6,883 resolved cases
  • 904 active cases
  • 336 deaths
  • 5,374 vaccine doses administered

Brant

  • 1,371 total cases — up eight from Thursday
  • 1,322 resolved cases
  • 40 active cases
  • 9 deaths
  • Five in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 1,358 total cases — up five from Thursday
  • 1,252 resolved cases
  • 63 active cases
  • 38 deaths

Six Nations

  • 168 total cases — up three from Thursday
  • 144 resolved cases
  • 22 active cases
  • 2 death

Another 7,694 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered on Thursday. As of 8 p.m. Thursday, a total of 362,749 vaccine doses have been given.

There are 87,831 people in the province who have received both required shots and are fully immunized.

There are 1,043 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario. There are 325 in intensive care and 225 of them are on ventilators.

There are 155 confirmed cases of the U.K. variant and one case of the South African variant.
