Ontario reports 1,210 new COVID-19 cases, 28 deaths

Ontario is reporting 1,210 new cases of COVID-19 and 28 deaths.

For the second straight day, the number of resolved cases outpaced new ones, with 1,376 more cases resolved.

According to numbers released Thursday, the province completed 41,838 tests.

There are 44,493 tests under investigation. The province has said its daily capacity for testing is between 45,000 and 50,000.

There are 526 people in hospital across the province including 146 in ICU. Of those in intensive care, 88 are on ventilators.

 

Here’s how the numbers break down in our region:

Haldimand-Norfolk: 2 new cases, 37 active cases

Brant: 1 new case, 50 active cases, 1 in hospital

Niagara: 20 new cases, 177 active cases, 3 in hospital

Halton: 39 new cases, 564 active cases, 17 in hospital

Hamilton: 50 new cases, 342 active cases, 15 in hospital

 

The death toll across the province is 3,443. Nearly 64 per cent of those deaths were people in long-term care homes.

There were 91 cases of COVID-19 reported in Ontario schools.
