The Ontario NDP held its triannual provincial council on Saturday at the Sheraton Centre in downtown Toronto.

A motion presented by the Hamilton Center Riding Association called on leader Marit Stiles to reinstate expelled MPP Sarah Jama to caucus.

The motion was debated and ultimately defeated by a vote with a ratio of two to one.

Jama remains an independent member of the Ontario legislature after being censured for comments she made about the Gaza-Israel war.

Many consider her remarks to be anti-semetic, and while she can vote in the legislature, the speaker will not recognize her to speak.

Jama did not return CHCH News’ calls on Saturday but she responded to the party’s move on X, formerly Twitter, saying she’s “down” to have a conversation with the Ontario NDP about what happened.
