Ontario Liberals promise to invest in home care, end for-profit long-term care

Ontario Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca announced a seniors’ strategy with a focus on investing in home care and an end to for-profit long-term care homes, if elected.
The Liberals promised to help 400,000 seniors get home care by 2026 by increasing the annual budget for home and community care by over $2 billion through 10 per cent annual increases.
The party also pledged to fund 15,000 new assisted living homes and “hub and spoke” care.
Del Duca says his government would end for-profit long-term care by stopping the renewal of licenses and financing the transfer of existing homes to not-for-profit.
The Liberal’s say their goal is to build 30,000 new community long-term care homes by 2028, as well as redevelop and modernize 28,000 existing homes.
