Ontario’s Liberal government confirmed today that they will be going forward with plans to create an Ontario Pension Plan.

The province’s associate minister of finance, Mitzie Hunter, says that now people who do not belong to a company pension plan will have money set aside for when they retire.

The Ontario Retirement pension plan was proposed in this year’s first provincial budget, but was squashed with the election. It passed when the budget was reintroduced with Kathleen Wynne’s new Liberal majority government.
