Ontario drivers can now show proof of auto insurance on their phone

The pink insurance slip is not being eliminated yet, but now drivers can display their auto insurance information from their smartphones or other devices.

The government says there will be a one year phase in period where drivers will also have to show the paper card in addition to the electronic option if requested.

Drivers will be responsible for making sure their phone can display the information, even with a poor signal, low battery or damaged screen.
