Ontario coroner investigating sudden COVID-19 deaths

Ontario’s chief coroner is investigating sudden COVID-19 deaths that occurred across the province, including in Hamilton and Haldimand-Norfolk.

The probe will look at about 50 deaths in April.

The majority of them happened in south central Ontario. Less than 10 of those cases happened in Hamilton and Haldimand-Norfolk combined.

The coroner’s officer says the investigations are ongoing. They say the deaths appear to be mostly in the under 60 demographic and happened more suddenly than expected given the symptoms.
