One person hospitalized, dog killed after Welland hit-and-run

Niagara police were on scene in Welland Sunday morning investigating an alleged hit-and-run that left one person in hospital and a dog dead.

It happened in the area of Thorold Road. The roadway between Rice Road and Bridlewood Drive was closed for several hours while officers investigated.

It appears a dog was killed during the incident and was later removed by Niagara police forensic teams.

A CHCH freelancer who was at the scene says one person was taken to hospital.

CHCH News has reached out to Niagara police for more information but has not yet received a response.
