Omar Khadr speaks out

Former Guantanamo Bay prisoner Omar Khadr has explained for the first time why he pleaded guilty to five war crimes.
In a new court affidavit obtained by Canadian Press, Khadr says it’s because he had been “left with a hopeless choice.” Khadr says he knew the Americans could have held him indefinitely even in the highly unlikely case he was acquitted and that his only hope of returning to Canada was to plead guilty. The affidavit comes as part of Khadr’s 20-million dollar lawsuit against the federal government for violation of his rights.
