OHL: Battalion trim the Bulldogs, 3-2

The Hamilton Bulldogs were looking to bounce back from Thursday’s, 6-5, loss to the last place Barrie Colts as they welcomed the North Bay Battalion.
In the first period, the Battalion with the man advantage and off the draw – Cam Dineen – fired from the point and Steve Harland was there with a tip for his 14th — no chance for Kaden Fulcher, 1-0, North Bay.
In the second, the Dogs’ defense continues to slump as Daniil Vertiy and Steve Harland combined to light the lamp twice within a span of 50 seconds.
Justin Lemcke finally got one for the home team but the Battalion still led, 3-1, after two periods of play.
Early in the third, the Bulldogs were rewarded for their hard work as Adam Laishram came off the back boards, put it in goal and MacKenzie Entwistle took a swing and put it behind Brent Moran the Bulldogs were down by one but that’s as close as they came. The Batallion trimmed the Bulldogs, 3-2.
Prior to the game, an announcement was made by the Ontario Hockey League suspending Hamilton Bulldogs forward Marian Studenic for two games for a hit from behind on Kirill Nizhnikov in Thursday nights loss to the Barrie Colts.
In the game Studenic was handed a five minute major for boarding and a game misconduct.
In addition, Nikki Petti, has been banned for three games for a late game sticking incident at the end of Thursday’s game.
The Bulldogs are back at it Saturday night as they host the Flint Firebirds. Game time at FirstOntario Centre is 7 p.m.
