Oakville gas plant cost to be revealed

The total cost of the provincial government’s decision to cancel a planned energy from natural gas plant in Oakville will be revealed today.
A previous audit on the cancelled gas plant in Mississauga revealed the total cost was $85 million more than what the Liberals had said. The report on the Oakville plant will likely be similar.
Originally pegged at $40 million, but last estimated at $310 million, there are suggestions the full cost could be up to $200 million more.
The opposition has been railing for months about the “true” costs of the cancelled gas plants, accusing the government of a cover-up.
Premier Kathleen Wynne says the allegations are wrong, and for that reason she called an audit. She says she’s not defending the decisions to cancel the plants, and has already apologized to Ontarians on behalf of the government.
