Oakville art studio helping Ukrainian children transition to new lives in Canada

The Oakville Academy for the Arts Summer Camp is offering free programs to help Ukrainian kids feel like kids again. The program’s aim is to help the kids transition into their new lives in Canada.

Heidi Schofield of the Oakville Academy for the Arts says the program is a “real blend of all of the arts, we’re all about building confidence and building new skill sets too.”

Beginning last week, a growing number of recently arrived Ukrainian children are getting to take part free of cost.

The academy hopes other children’s organizations in Oakville also begin offering free programming for Ukrainian newcomers.
