The Niagara Regional Police Marine Unit came on Morning Live with Sylvie Lendvay to share advice on how to stay safe as part of Drowning Prevention Week.

The Ontario Life Saving Society says not wearing a life jacket was a factor in 88% of boat-related deaths. Alcohol played a part in 40% of boat-related deaths.

There were 50 search and rescue calls in the Niagara Region in the year 2020. There have been 33 calls in 2021 so far.
