The November Man is a spy thriller directed by Roger Donaldson (Dante’s Peak). Based on the seventh book in Bill Granger’s November Man series of novels, the film stars former-Bond Pierce Brosnan as Peter Devereaux, a retired CIA agent who is pulled back into the fold for one last mission. Devereaux is tasked with protecting a witness who holds secrets about an age-old conspiracy. He soon discovers that the mission puts him in the crosshairs of a former colleague and protégé. Uncertain of who he can trust, a deadly game of cat and mouse ensues. The film co-stars Luke Bracey, Olga Kurylenko, Eliza Taylor, Caterina Scorsone.

Brosnan has been out of the spy game since 2002 when he starred in his last Bond film, Die Another Day. But he liked what he saw in his character enough to get back in the saddle. “Devereaux is complicated. He’s a man who was in the field for many years. He’s learned and intelligent and yet he’s also a trained killer, a professional dyed in the wool agent, and he’s become very tortured and traumatized by that. He has this veneer of normality and yet he’s haunted by the ‘sins’ of his past life. So by the time we meet him, he uncomfortably traverses the two worlds – the dark underbelly of his life as a CIA agent and his rather genteel and civilized existence in Lausanne.”

The November Man is rated 14A.
