Canada Post presents new framework to workers union to reach deal

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers says there’s been no word from the mediator that talks in the labour dispute with Canada Post will resume.

The worry follows as Canada Post presented the union with a framework to reach negotiated agreements.

The crown company says the framework includes proposals for greater flexibility in its delivery models and shows “movement on other keys issues.”

The union posted in its website Sunday that its negotiators are reviewing said framework and notes that both parties have adjusted their demands in hopes of restarting talks.

The union also says while it is ready for talks to restart, the framework doesn’t seem to take into account Labour Minister Steven Mackinnon’s comments about the agreement needing to be “ratifiable.”

The labour minister temporarily suspended mediation last week because negotiations hadn’t budged.
