The Hamilton Fire Department is at the scene of a blaze in a triplex in the city’s east end.
Crews were called around 1 p.m. to the third-floor apartment located at 449 King St. East, near East Avenue North, where they quickly extinguished a balcony that caught fire.
A district chief at the scene says it appears the fire started in the kitchen, but they’re still investigating the cause.
Hamilton police say an ambulance was dispatched for two males and one female for issues with smoke inhalation. There are no other serious injuries reported.
The district chief says the apartment on the second floor below will have water damage and presumes four or five people to be displaced.
The estimated cost of damages is not yet known.
No roads are closed but traffic is slow in the area.
