Hamilton police say no charges will be laid after a deadly crash involving a snow plow on the Red Hill Valley Parkway earlier this year.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 17, the family of 67-year-old Hussein Hassoun said his van got stuck near the Queenston Road bridge.
When the man got out of his vehicle to check for damage, police said he was hit by a snow plow.
Investigators said evidence suggests the snow plow driver was unaware the vehicle or driver had been struck.
The man later died of his injuries on Jan. 29.
After reviewing all the factors involved in this collision, officers said the legal threshold required to lay a charge was not met.
Hassoun’s daughter, however, is calling for changes to prevent a similar crash. She said her family is pursuing all avenues, including a civil lawsuit.
The collision marked Hamilton’s second motor fatality of 2022.
