Nine-year-old girl struck by minivan in Oakville

A nine-year-old girl is in serious but stable condition after getting hit by a minivan in Oakville.

It happened around 8:25 p.m. last night on Parkglen Avenue.

The girl was on a skateboard when a 55-year-old man from Milton, traveling eastbound in a dodge caravan, hit her.

She suffered a serious head injury and was immediately taken to McMaster Children’s hospital.

Police say speed and impairment were not factors. They are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The accident remains under investigation.
