The Niagara Parks Commission has partnered with the town of Fort Erie to enhance the Niagara River Recreation Trail.

The new trail will be located between Riverwalk and Bowen Road and is said to be a “seamless ride” for cyclists in the near future.

The town and Niagara Parks will receive $250,000 in funding from the provincial government through the Ontario Municipal Cycling Infrastructure Program. The project is estimated to cost $500,000 in total.

With contributions from Niagara Parks, Fort Erie, and the O-M-C-I-P. The program hopes that cycling will be better recognized as a practical mode of transportation.

The trail is set to be completed by 2018.
