Niagara police training exercises taking place Thursday morning

Residents in Niagara Falls should not be concerned if they see an increased police presence on Thursday morning as training exercises will be taking place.

Members of the Niagara Regional Police Service Emergency Task Unit will be conducting training exercises from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a property on Stanley Avenue near Livingston Street.

The training will be done inside and outside the property, with signage put in place in the training area to notify residents.

People nearby should expect sounds of simulated gun fire and an increased police presence, but traffic will not be affected.

Police are asking the public and media to stay away from the training site for their safety and the safety of the officers involved.
