Niagara police to conduct training in Thorold on Wednesday

Niagara police’s Explosive Disposal Unit and Emergency Task Unit will be conducting training in Thorold on Wednesday.

The exercises are scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the area of Thorold Townline and Old Thorold Stone roads.

Members of the public in the area should expect to see an increased police presence and hear explosion and simulated gun shot sounds, as well as the smell of smoke.

There will be signage alerting nearby residents and commuters about the training.

The public is asked to stay away from the sites for their safety and the safety of the officers involved.
