Niagara police seek female suspect after robbery at Smithville Avondale store

Niagara detectives are investigating following a robbery at a convenience store in West Lincoln Wednesday night.

Police say they arrived at the Avondale store located at 112 Brock St. in Smithville around 11 p.m. after receiving reports of a robbery.

Initial investigations have determined that a lone female suspect entered the store claiming to have a gun and demanded cash from the register.

The employee of the store complied and officers say that the employee did not see a gun.

The suspect then ran west bound through the parking lot with an undisclosed amount of money.

A NRPS K9 unit was able to track the suspect westbound toward Griffin St. North, across the street onto McMurchie Ln. where it is believed the suspect may have entered a vehicle.

Investigators are now searching for the suspect described as a white female who is around five-foot-six with a heavier build.

The suspect was last seen wearing a gray three-quarter length coat, a black hoodie with the hood up, a yellow scarf covering her face, black pants, black boots and black glasses.

Further investigation has found that there was bystander car traffic in the parking lot before and after the robbery. Residents and businesses in the area are asked to review any security footage for suspicious activity between 10 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
