Niagara police charged a man from Toronto Wednesday after an investigation into a person who connected with a child online and tried to meet them for a sexual purpose.
Officers say they began the investigation in January working with detectives in the service’s Internet Child Exploitation unit.
Investigators arrested and charged 34-year-old Patrick Pawel Lagowski of Toronto with offences related to luring a child via telecommunication for sexual interference and sexual assault, and possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
Lagowski remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing Friday at a St. Catharines courthouse.
Detectives believe Lagowski used the usernames “dave252966” and “dave205047” online to commit offences against children.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police, or reach out to Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477 and leaving an anonymous tip.
