Niagara police arrest St. Catharines man wanted on 19 warrants

Niagara police arrested a St. Catharines man Tuesday that was wanted on the strength of 19 warrants within the Region of Niagara.

Officers say they began an investigation into the man earlier this summer.

On Tuesday, the accused was allegedly seen driving a vehicle in St. Catharines and subsequently exited the vehicle at a business on Fourth Avenue.

Investigators arrested the man at 12:20 p.m., as he attempted to re-enter the vehicle.

Police have charged 41-year-old Joshua Stephens with around 47 offences, including four counts of theft of a motor vehicle, nine counts of possessing property obtained by crime and two counts of breaking and entering with intent.

Stephens remains in custody and attended a bail hearing at a St. Catharines courthouse on Wednesday.
