Niagara police arrest man in connection with break and enter and assault with a weapon

Niagara police say a man was arrested after a group of men held a knife to a woman’s throat after forcing themselves into her house.

Police say it happened on Feb. 5 in he area of Tara Crescent and Commerford Street, in the City of Thorold.

A woman answer her door when multiple men pushed themselves into her home and held a knife to her throat. She did not sustain any physical injury.

Police identified a suspect and place him under arrest.

Zachary Durant, 26, of no fixed address, was charged with multiple offences including assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, uttering threats and more.

Police say this appears to be a targeted incident and believe other unknown parties were involved.
