NHL players union tables counter-proposal

The optimism many felt earlier this week when the NHL delivered a new proposal to the players association has pretty much evaporated after the players tabled a counter proposal today.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman says he’s “thoroughly disappointed” with it, adding he doesn’t think both sides are speaking the same language. Al Sweeney is in Toronto with the latest details.
