New ‘all-in’ vacation pricing will take effect in 2017

Ontario is introducing new rules that will help ‘prevent surprises’ for travelers who book vacations in the province.

The new all-in pricing will force companies to advertise prices for vacations that include all taxes and fees.

As of January 1, 2017, any advertisements made by a registered travel agent or wholesaler must show the total cost, including print, television, radio or online advertising.

The province says the new rules will help reduce confusion for consumers and will ensure businesses follow the same advertising rules, creating a more even playing field.

The government is asking for the public’s input on ways to further strengthen protection for travelers and burden on businesses.
