New U.S. report ranks McMaster as 4th best university in Canada

An American report has ranked three Canadian universities among the top 100 in the world, with Hamilton’s McMaster University ranked fourth best university in Canada.

The 12th Annual U.S. News & World Report released earlier this month, after reviewing at 2,438 universities in 105 countries.

The group behind the list says it compares indicators including global research reputation, international collaboration, and publications and citations.

Other factors in ranking considerations include normalized citation impact and regional research reputation.

The review also included a reputation survey that asked academics’ opinions on the educational institutions.

On the Best Global Universities list, the University of Toronto ranked 20th, the University of British Columbia ranked 42nd and McGill University was ranked at 68th best university in the world.

McMaster University tied for 150th place on the list with the University of Bologna (Italy).

McMaster has ranked within the top 150 universities on the list in previous years.
