Neighbors is a comedy film directed by Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek). Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne star as new parents raising their daughter in a quiet suburb. Still coming to grips with the fact that their partying days are behind them, the couple discover that the house next door is being turned into a fraternity house for Delta Psi Beta, a local frat led by its president Teddy (Zac Efron). The two sides try to play nice, but the relationship son turns hostile as both sides fight for their rights. The film co-stars Dave Franco, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Ike Barinholtz, Jerrod Carmichael, and Lisa Kudrow.

Stoller was blessed with an extremely comedic cast and wanted to allow them to bring their own humour to the table, so before shooting began he allowed the actors room to improvise. “After the table read,” he says, “we did two weeks of rehearsals that provided a safe time to play around when we’re not under the time pressure of shooting. The best improvs went into the script.” There are likely many outtakes from these improv sessions to look forward to on the forthcoming DVD release.

Neighbors is rated 18A.
