Nearly 3,500 Hamilton homes, businesses affected by power outage

Power has been restored following a major outage in a section of Hamilton’s west end Thursday night, which lasted less than hour.
Almost 3,500 homes and businesses were without electricity just before 9 p.m. due to an equipment malfunction.
Alectra’s website showed the affected area was from Dundurn Street to James Street, and from Aberdeen Avenue to the Bayfront.
An eye-witness described seeing a fireball in front of the Good Shepherd administration building on Bay St. North.
A first-responder at the scene confirmed that there was a fireball.
The corporation reported on X that all power was restored at around 9:45 p.m.

Alectra says that this was an isolated outage and, “will not likely occur again.”
