Natural Gas Leak on Upper James

Fire crews and Union Gas were called to 1051 Upper James St. for a natural gas leak at around 9:00am this morning after employees of local businesses notified the Hamilton Fire Department reporting a very strong smell of natural gas. Several units were evacuated due to the leak.

Officials on scene say the leak may have been a result of a burner left on in an area restaurant.

Fire crews have since located and repaired the leak. All occupants were allowed back inside at around 10:30am.
