Motorcyclist killed in Hannon crash

(Update)
A man is dead after a motorcycle crash on Golf Club Road near highway 56 — that’s just south of Rymal Road in Hamilton.
Initial reports about this fatal motorcycle crash in Glanbrook came in about 11:45 this morning. Since then we haven’t learned much.
Hamilton police have confirmed that a man was found dead in a ditch off Golf Links Road. Soon after that, a motorcycle was found in the the ditch some distance away from the body. The top of the sports bike was essentially ripped off and there was grass and debris in the bike.
We did notice a lot of motorcycles taking the side roads in this area, perhaps to avoid roads with heavier traffic. The city of Hamilton say this is the second fatality involving a motorcycle rider this year.
The OPP say it’s a far worse number on the provincial highways. They say there have been 26 motorcycle fatalities — 8 in the past two months. They fear that they could exceed the previous high in motorcycle fatalities in a year which currently stands at 29.
Golf Club Road has been reopened in both directions.
