A mother who has reunited with her son, 31 years after he went missing says she’s living proof that missing children cases can have happy endings.

Police allege Alan Mann jr. abducted his son Jermaine when he was a toddler in 1987 in Toronto.

Mann jr. was arrested on Friday in Connecticut, where the two had been living under aliases.

Lyneth Mann-Lewis, Jermaine’s mother, spoke publicly today and describes the emotional moment she was reunited with her son.

“I grabbed him and squeezed his head. I want to feel if he’s real, I touched him, I said, oh my God, my baby… he was awed, he said mommy you have my eyes, he hugged me and he kissed me and we held there for a long time.”

Police say Mann jr is facing multiple criminal charged in the U.S, but will be extradited to Canada to face one count of abduction.
