Mohawk College reports another 62 full-time positions have been eliminated, with an additional 10 vacant positions removed as part of another wave of job cuts.
Mohawk College spokesperson Sean Coffey said most of the reductions were within the administrative and support staff groups, evenly distributing the impacts between the areas.
The college says a total of 57 employees chose to take part in the voluntary exit program and were approved.
“These changes were needed to align our workforce and operations with enrolment levels,” said Coffey. “Based on current projections, we do not expect further restructuring of this scale next year, marking the end of the restructuring period that began in late 2024. Our focus now is on stability and renewal.”
Layoffs at the post-secondary school began in late 2024 after the school revealed it had a projected $50 million deficit.
