Mobility chairs, therapeutic equipment stolen from St. Catharines community centre

A 43-year-old man has been arrested after several mobility devices were stolen from a St. Catharines community centre.

Officers were called to a break and enter at the Port Weller Community Centre on Bogart St. on Feb. 21.

Police learned someone had broken into an onsite storage container and stole multiple items which included mobility chairs, and therapeutic and fitness equipment.

On Monday, investigators received a tip that the stolen items were at a home in the area of Parnell Rd. and Vine St.

Officers executed a search warrant at the home and recovered some of the stolen property.

Shawn Christopher Moroz, of St. Catharines, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and fail to comply with probation order.

Police say he was in possession of cocaine at the time of his arrest and now faces a drug possession charge.
