Two people suffered minor injuries after a toxic soda spill at a biotechnology plant in Port Colborne early Thursday afternoon.
Emergency crews responded around 2:30 p.m. to Jungbunzlauer Canada Inc. located at 1555 Elm St. for a report of a hazmat incident.
Investigators say a tank holding Costic acid ruptured, injuring a male and a female employee.
Paramedics treated the woman at the scene.
Port Colborne and Niagara Falls firefighters are working to contain the chemical spill.
Niagara police say no foul play is suspected at this time.
Port Colborne Fire Chief Scott Lawson says there is no threat to public safety stemming from this incident.
The Ministry of Labour has been notified.
