Milton still fastest-growing town, but rate slowing down

New census stats show Ontario was the only province that didn’t see an increase in population growth last year.

In numbers released today, StatsCan says there were 33 and a half million people in Canada in 2011; and for the first time, western Canada has a higher share of the country’s population than the east. That’s being attributed to better job opportunities.

The census also showed that suburbs are still booming, and once again Canada’s fastest growing community is Milton. It grew by more than 56 per cent. Cristina Tenaglia takes a look at how the town is managing its explosive growth.
