Mother could face charges for leaving children in hot car

A Milton mother may be facing charges after police say she left her three children locked in a car at a supermarket during yesterdays scorching heat. Thankfully the kids are okay, but they were very much at risk as police say the car was sitting in full sunlight with the three children inside.

The youngest was four and the oldest was 12. How long the kids were in the car before that is still being investigated. On average, Halton Police say they get 21 calls for children or pets locked in hot cars every year.

Charges for leaving your kids in the car could include child abandonment and failing to provide the necessity of life. More serous charges could include causing bodily harm or death and in the most extreme cases it could be manslaughter.
