McMaster Children’s Hospital preparing to admit non-COVID adult patients into ICU

McMaster Children’s Hospital is preparing to admit seriously ill non-COVID adults into their pediatric intensive care unit to relieve pressure on hospitals during the third wave.
The president of Ontario’s Hospital Association says all five of Ontario’s Children’s Hospitals are working to accept adult patients.

Reports say ORNGE transferred 80 patients on Friday to create capacity in the GTA.
Hospitals have discharged more than 1000 elderly patients into nursing homes to make space.
According to the Hospital Association, there are currently 846 people with COVID-19 in Ontario ICUs.
