Margaret Houghton retires

We’ve all heard the saying, “when you do what you love, you’ll never work another day in your life.” That’s certainly true for archivist Margaret Houghton, who retired this week after spending nearly 38 years working in Hamilton’s local history and archives department.

Houghton has spent decades collecting and preserving information and artifacts about the city and was inducted into the Hamilton Gallery of Distinction in 2014. We sat down with her to ask her what some of the highlights of her career are and what she’ll miss most about the job.
